An upscale spot tucked between downtown Minneapolis and the Uptown neighborhood, just a half block off Nicollet Avenue, this restaurant gets its name from the owners’ two dogs... their portraits proudly hang on the wall. The menu leans creative, featuring a mix of house-made condiments you won’t find anywhere else. The breaded pork tenderloin, listed as the “Iowa Pork Tenderloin Sandwich,” isn’t exactly what most Iowans would recognize it comes topped with apple butter, pickled cabbage, and house mustard (definitely not anything store-bought). But before you roll your eyes at the nontraditional toppings, give it a try as the flavors actually work beautifully together. The sweet, tangy, and savory notes play off the pork in a really unique way, and I ended up really liking it. The sandwich itself isn’t huge maybe a 4-ounce cut of pork and it runs about $15.50. The owner called it a “monster sandwich.” Let’s just say… not quite! Still, for creativity and flavor, this place earns high marks.
