We had to get the tenderlion sliders and a giant pretzel. We also got the jalapeño cheese balls and deep-fried broccoli. The tavern is a very old building. The atmosphere was very friendly and simple. The service was great. The food came out fast, almost too fast, but that was okay. There was four of us and we were hungry. The tenderlion was very huge but it wasn't the greatest. It really didn't have any flavor, but the meat was juicy. The breading was just bland. The best part was the sweet rolls. The pretzel was huge! It came with 3 sauces. The sauces were cold so that didn't help with the hot deep-fried pretzel. It was super crunchy and had the right amount of salt. I will say they need to change their grease because you could taste the old grease in the breading. The jalapeño cheese balls were okay, and the broccoli bites were very different. Absolutely loved the red Solo cups and all the plastic dining utensils. We got all that food and drinks (no alcohol) for a total of 49 bucks. Which is super cheap for four people. We split it and left a tip. We probably wouldn't drive the 2-hour drive again, but it was a good experience. Just not a great tenderlion.

We were in Terre Haute, IN today and knowing we weren’t ever going to get any closer my wife and I decided to check out Mecca Tavern. Of caurse I had to order the Breaded Pork Tenderloin with a side of Breaded Mushrooms. My wife got the ½ lb. Meathead cheeseburger with a side of Fried Cauliflower. BPT: 5 Breaded Mushrooms: 3 Cheeseburger: 4 Breaded Cauliflower: 3 We also order a Pepsi and a water. Total tab after tax was $35. The service was on point and the food was even better... Highly recommend! Easily one of my top 10 BPT spots in Indiana. If I’m ever back in the area, I’ll definitely return.
