I have eaten at The Igloo in Peru, IL my whole life. I now have to travel 1000 miles to get one. Damn good sammich, it isn’t gigantic, which I prefer. I just want a sanwich not a whole plate-sized monstrosity. I think there are new owners but the sandwich is still good, and the mug for the root beer was frosty. I was thankful. The Igloo has been around since 1937. Hope it holds on 100 more years.

The Igloo Restaurant in Peru, Illinois has been around for decades and has always been a local favorite. Growing up in the area I knew they used a local supplier (Polancic's) from Ottawa, which always seemed a mediocre quality to me over the years. I live in Michigan now and was recently in the home area and decided to try them again, the Igloo is now under new owners so now maybe a better sammie! Not so much, of the other four places in town to include HyVee and Culvers, I would rate this at 5th place. No real flavor/seasoning, bland although crisp from the fryer. I know some like em thin but I desire something more substantial, so I make my own at home along the lines of a schnitzel. Hope this helps.
