My Facebook feed has been flooded with tenderloin picks all day so I started craving one. Ran down the road to the one that started it all for me 25 years ago. Realized I’ve probably eaten a hundred of these from here and never really posted a review. Here ya go. The elephant ear tenderloin from the Coles County Airport is very good but isn’t near the best around. Others like the Palomino Club and Buford’s are much larger and more flavorful but this one will always be one of my favorites. It’s where I cut my teeth. The Airport Steakhouse restaurant has been serving these for at least 25 years. They are large in size but only about 1/8” thick and probably weigh about 12oz. I was able to eat the entire thing for lunch. The breading is good and sticks to the tenderloin. It’s seasoned well however the meat could be seasoned better prior to breading. Usually cooked really well and tender. I love that they use Dukes mayonnaise. It’s far superior than Hellmann’s in my opinion. Their options on sides are great too. I had the onion rings today. Their fried mushrooms are really good too. If you’re anywhere near Mattoon or Charleston, it’s the best option near this area and I highly recommend checking it out
